Things We’re Working On:
Hey! It’s Me!
I can’t believe I’m coming up on 10 years as a business owner. But here we are! I wanted to talk about the next eighteen months and upcoming projects at the Radical Joy HQ.
The Big Three
The Journal
The Retreat
The Book
I’ve been toying with the idea of a journal for years now. I love prompts but how do I distill all of my rest methodology and techniques into something you can use to get started? A journal! Journaling has been a life saving skill for decades and I’m excited to self-publish one with you in mind.
Yes, we’re bringing our 10+ years of event experience back to produce our first retreat. Saying it out loud seems so obvious now? I help people rest. Duh, I should have a retreat. But I was really scared of it for a time. I want to get this right and I know that first doesn’t necessary equal best. The more I push it off, the longer I avoid learning what I need to improve on it. The plan for now is a one-day retreat locally in San Antonio for feedback and price accessibility. Then producing a larger one for the tail-end of 2026. I can’t wait to update you on the progress.
The book will be the biggest and likely longest project I’ve undertaken to date. It’s got my neurodivergent brain shook. But I can’t shake the feeling that it must be done. I keep imagining baby me at 20 years old, already burned out and feeling rudderless. What would seeing this book on the shelf of my local bookshop healed in me? So yes, I’m writing a book for all of us that needed to claw our way back to rest, joy, and care.
Here are the Medium Four:
YouTube Channel
RestLab Podcast
Rest Events
RestLab Report Substack
I realized this year that approaching content like a business owner made making media less fun. I got hung up on strategy and abandoned my curiosity. I got caught up in metrics instead of impact. So I’m reclaiming social media and social moments to create spaces where people can engage and wrestle with rest. Because rest should be easy, but we have so many things in our lives that keep us from it. If you haven’t checked our YouTube you can find heart to heart talks and the podcast episodes there. You can also find the podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts.
I have a few in-person events that will be based locally as well as online ones like our live RestLab 101 class, the personal RestLab Recess, and the prerecorded RestLab Recess. Ideally the retreat would be held annually and open to our online and local communities at large.
Finally, the RestLab Report is where I post my own personal rest challenges. I’ll talk to you about different “experiments” I’m running like my better sleep challenge and give you the real results (even if I fail).
I want the media (not just content) I make to be a conversation about rest, care, and joy, because I’m working it out with you too.
I’m excited for what this space will be. I look forward to it being healing and helpful for all of us.
